Cookies and storage
This page lists every cookie and similar technology this website uses, what each one is for and how long it lasts. Until you choose, we use only essential ones. Analytics (Google Analytics and our own time-on-page measurement) and marketing (Google Ads, the Meta pixel and SaveMyBudget) run only if you allow them.
What this website stores on your device
| Name | Type | Set by | Category | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
yrl_consent | Cookie | This website | Essential | Remembers the choice you make in the cookie banner or in Cookie settings — whether analytics and marketing cookies are allowed — and when you made it. It is not set until you choose. | 6 months from your latest choice |
yrl_quote_v7 | Session storage | This website | Essential | Keeps your answers to the quote form if you reload the page or go back, so you do not lose them. It never holds your name, contact details, the property’s address or postcode, or anything you write in a free-text box. | Until you close the tab. Also cleared when you send the form or start again. |
cf_clearance | Cookie | Our website security provider | Essential (security) | Set only if you are asked to complete a security check before a page opens — for example when traffic looks unusual. It records that you passed, so you are not asked again straight away. While a check is running, the provider may also set technical cookies used only for that check (their names begin cf_chl_). | 30 minutes |
| — | Local storage inside the security check | Our website security provider | Essential (security) | The security check beside our forms runs in a frame served by our security provider. It may keep one small technical item in that frame’s own storage to help tell people from bots. It sets no cookie. | Until you clear your browser’s stored data |
_ga | Cookie | Google Analytics (Google), on this website’s address | Analytics | Holds a random number that tells one browser’s visits apart from another’s, so we can count visitors and see how the site is used. Set only if you switch Analytics on, and deleted if you switch it off. | 13 months |
_ga_WH0TRHKB9L | Cookie | Google Analytics (Google), on this website’s address | Analytics | Keeps track of your current visit (its start, and how many pages you have seen) for Google Analytics. Set only if you switch Analytics on, and deleted if you switch it off. | 13 months |
_fbp | Cookie | Meta pixel (Meta), on this website’s address | Marketing | Holds a random number that tells one browser’s visits apart, so Meta can measure our adverts and include this browser in an audience for future adverts. Set only if you switch Marketing on, and deleted if you switch it off. | 90 days |
_fbc | Cookie | Meta pixel (Meta), on this website’s address | Marketing | Set only if you arrived by clicking one of our Meta adverts: it keeps the click reference, so the visit can be linked to that advert. Set only if you switch Marketing on, and deleted if you switch it off. | 90 days |
yrl_google_click | Local storage | This website | Marketing | If you arrived by clicking one of our Google adverts, keeps that advert’s click reference (gclid), so that if you come back later and send us an enquiry, we can tell which advert brought you. Set only if you switch Marketing on, and deleted if you switch it off. | 90 days from the click |
| — | Device check (no cookie) | SaveMyBudget (IK Ventures Ltd) | Marketing | Reads details of your browser and device (screen size, time zone, language, graphics card, installed fonts and similar settings) and counts mouse movements, scrolls, taps, clicks and key presses, to tell people from bots and find fraudulent clicks on our Google adverts. It stores nothing on your device. Runs only if you switch Marketing on; switching it off stops it sending. | Nothing is stored |
A normal visit sets no cookies until you make a choice in the cookie banner. Google Analytics cookies are set only if you allow Analytics, and the Meta pixel’s cookies only if you allow Marketing. SaveMyBudget’s check, which sets no cookie, also runs only if you allow Marketing.
Google Analytics. If you allow Analytics, your browser loads Google Analytics from Google (Google Ireland Limited, with Google LLC in the United States). Google receives your IP address (Google Analytics does not store it), the address of each page you view, the website that sent you here, your browser and device type, and what you click, such as the phone number or “Get a quote” — never anything you type into a form. We use it to see which pages help people and which of our marketing brings enquiries. Advertising features stay off unless you also allow Marketing. You can switch Analytics off at any time in Cookie settings.
Time on each page. If you allow Analytics, this website also tells our own request log which pages you move to within the site, how long each one stays open on your screen and how far down you scroll. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device; the record is kept in the EU and deleted after 90 days. It stops as soon as you switch Analytics off.
Google Ads and the Meta pixel. If you allow Marketing, Google Ads uses our Google Analytics measurement to tell us which of our Google adverts led to an enquiry, and your browser loads the Meta pixel from Meta (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, with Meta Platforms, Inc. in the United States). Meta receives your IP address and browser details, the pages you view, and that you started a quote, tapped to call or message us, or sent an enquiry — never anything you type into a form, your name or your contact details, and nothing about a property dispute. We use it to measure our Meta adverts and, later, to show them to people who have visited this website. You can switch Marketing off at any time in Cookie settings: the pixel then stops sending and its cookies are deleted.
SaveMyBudget. If you allow Marketing, your browser loads a click-fraud check from SaveMyBudget (IK Ventures Ltd, in the UK), which works for us. It reads details of your browser and device — screen size, time zone, language, graphics card, installed fonts and similar settings — and counts your mouse movements, scrolls, taps, clicks and key presses (never which keys) and how long you stay. With your IP address, the page you open and the click reference of an advert you came from, this tells it whether a visit came from a person or from a bot or a fraudulent click on our Google adverts, so that we can claim the cost back from Google. It stores nothing on your device and never sees what you type into a form. You can switch Marketing off at any time in Cookie settings: the check then stops sending.
Website statistics without cookies. Our website security and content-delivery provider counts page views for us — which pages are visited and how often — and shows us only totals. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Our privacy notice explains what it receives.
The security check on our forms
When the security check loads, our website security provider receives your IP address and technical signals from your browser and device, such as the browser type. It uses them to tell people from bots and, in its own right, to improve its bot detection. Our privacy notice explains more.

_gacookies in the table above) and our own time-on-page measurement (no cookie). They help us understand how the website is used and which of our marketing brings enquiries. They run only if you switch Analytics on (or choose “Accept all”). - Marketing — off unless you allow it
- Google Ads (measurement through Google Analytics, with no cookie of its own, and the Google advert click reference this website keeps on your device), the Meta pixel (the
_fbpand_fbccookies in the table above) and SaveMyBudget’s click-fraud check (no cookie; it reads browser and device details). They measure our advertising, let us show future Meta adverts to people who have visited this website, and stop us paying for fraudulent clicks. They run only if you switch Marketing on (or choose “Accept all”).
Your choice
The law here is the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). Information may be stored on or read from your device without your consent only where that is strictly necessary for a service you have asked for; anything else needs your consent first.
On your first visit a banner lets you choose Accept all, Reject non-essential or Manage preferences. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and nothing non-essential runs until you choose. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of every page, or with the button below. If your choice is more than 6 months old, we ask again.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Your browser lets you see, delete and block cookies and stored data. If you block the essential items, the quote form may not remember your answers and the security check may not work, so our forms may not send — you can always call us instead.
Our privacy notice explains what we do with the information you send us, and your rights over it.
